St. Gregory’s University’s Performing Arts Department Presents “True West”
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at St. Gregory’s University will debut True West on Thursday, April 6 at 8 p.m. in Sarkeys Performing Arts Center. The performance will run through Sunday, April 9.
Senior Dominic Reyna, a theatre major from Midwest City, Okla. will direct True West. He is excited to see the hard work the cast put into preparing for the performance.
“I hope that the audience enjoys the humorous and intense look at westerns, family and the crazy business of the movie industry,” said Reyna. “My cast has been working hard but have been enjoying the process and we hope the audience will have as much fun as we have had putting together this play.”
True West was written by Sam Shepard, a Pulitzer-Prize winning playwright. It is a dark comedy that tells the story of two brothers, one a larcenous Vagrant and another a successful screenwriter. Soon enough, they find themselves in close proximity of one another in their mother’s home, their worlds colliding.
The production will premiere on Thursday, April 6 at 8 p.m., Friday, April 7 at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 8 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, April 9 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for children and can be purchased one hour prior to each performance at the box office located in the theatre lobby.
